The Olympic flag was stolen in the early morning hours from the flag post outside Vancouver City Hall. Luckily it was a replica of the Oslo flag, which has been handed from one winter games host to the next since the 1952 Oslo Winter Games.
An untimely occurrence given the official Olympic and Paralympic flag lighting ceremony takes place on March 12th at 6:30 pm.
